There seems to be two openings that could be used. I bet it may not look so nice without the yellow lcas, polished rear end and straight pipe.

I'm sure it varies by state, but a car with no reverse lights may still pass inspection. I had a friend who had an old Datsun something-or-other about 30 years ago, and when he went to get it inspected (in VA) the reverse lights didn't work. The inspector said that if he removed them entirely it would pass. So, I suppose if a car doesn't even have them there's no question of whether or not they work properly.

Hmm, I wouldn't do that. A diffuser is a remarkably simple aerodynamic device. The stock diffuser is probably very functional, even if it looks a little cheap and cheesy compared to one on a higher-end car.
